Summary: “As long as you have hope, it’ll all be okay in the end.” Yunho thinks Jaejoong doesn’t know how to say those three words to him but in fact, can it be Yunho who doesn’t know what’s keeping them together?

i only need to see you
to envision millions of miles of sunshine

All Yunho ever wants to hear from Jaejoong are three words (just three), and he wants to hear them, wishes Jaejoong can spell them out to him, as often as the sun rises—everyday. Jaejoong knows and gives them to him, everyday. Three words, everyday—he counts. But he knows, while he gives them, they are not the ones Yunho wants to, believes he’ll, hear.
But on Sundays, Yunho doesn’t mind it so much because Jaejoong is beside him, so his heart twists a lot less.
“—set the table!”
“I’ll be right ther—argh, no! Junsu, pause the game right now! Pause it!”
On Mondays, his heart crumbles a lot more because he doesn’t get to see Jaejoong at all. So he imagines—dreams of—Jaejoong singing, his voice low and soft, those three words to him in the dark of the night, where he can’t see (can’t doubt). The song becomes so real, he almost believes the dull ache had drowned in lyrics about promises and tomorrows. Almost. But Jaejoong knows promises like the back of his hand and never fails to deliver—everyday, whether Yunho wants to hear it or not. (Not today.)
“Don’t wait up.”
“Will you be late?”
Yunho doesn’t ask, so Jaejoong doesn’t answer. But Yunho hopes, and Jaejoong shatters them, piece by piece—everyday. He will give Yunho three words as promised (by routine) and Yunho will take them, store them, glare at them, dig his nails in and rip them apart, piece by piece— everyday; rips them apart the way Jaejoong does with his heart (the one Jaejoong stole from him without him knowing.)
“—busy right now.”
He had never wondered just why Jaejoong doesn’t say them to him. But when he does, he thinks maybe it isn’t that Jaejoong doesn’t want to say those three words to him, but rather, doesn’t know how. So Yunho doesn’t lose hope that maybe one day Jaejoong will learn (just for him); he hopes and hopes and hopes because he thinks it’s the only thing that’s holding them together. He doesn’t even stop to think that maybe what’s holding them together—keeping them together, is lo—
“…I miss you.”
While Yunho hopes the days away, Jaejoong doesn’t because he already knows he loves Yunho. But he knows Yunho doesn’t know, and he thinks Yunho will know—will learn— in due time that Jaejoong loves him. He’ll wait for Yunho to stop hoping and start loving. So for now, he loves enough for the both of them, stays beside him when he can and pieces Yunho’s heart back together (the one he stole from him) —piece by piece, everyday—and nurtures it inside his own, feeds it love, until the day he can finally tell him the three words he really wants to hear.
“I… love you.”
And Jaejoong replies back—gifts him three more words that breaks the promise (routine). He doesn’t count them (because his heart counts for him, in beats of love).
A/N: I...uh... yeah :| I was bored one night and grew incredibly frustrated at my lack of productivity so I grabbed the first prompt and wrote :D Blame the thing for a hard prompt because no one was on to give me pretty prompts. ;~; ♥
